Assisted education

Journey to New Worlds

Ein Mädchen steht vor einem grünen Tafelhintergrund, auf den Planeten, Sterne und Raketen gezeichnet sind. Um das Mädchen herum ist eine Astronautenausrüstung gezeichnet.

Being young can at times be very difficult. For example when things are not going well at home. Or when there is no home. Or when hope gets lost between all those conflicts. More and more young persons are growing up in difficult family circumstances. The number of children and youths with development disorders is rising – as is the need for intense support, help and promotion. Therefore, we have developed “WeltRäume” to provide “assisted education under the auspices of bbw Südhessen”. Our residential youth care project offers a safe space for young people to work out perspectives for their own future.

A temporary home

The houses “Villa Kosmos” and "Villa Canopus" with residential groups in Karben and “Villa Gemini” and "Villa Pictor" with five residential groups in Bad Vilbel-Dortelweil offer a temporary home to young people coming from all over the world, including unaccompanied minor refugees. As dependable partners, our social workers and educators help youths and young adults in gaining self-esteem, trust and independence. In everyday life and in the safety of the group, we give them many opportunities to make new experiences in life and in relationships.

Also, we are currently planning and preparing more residential units for youth care, as well as day-care and outpatient services.

Vocational orientation

One important objective of “WeltRäume” is to assist youths in choosing the right career early on. We acknowledge that the ability to earn one’s living will be an essential prerequisite for leading an independent life later on. Based on the expertise of bbw Südhessen, we can lay the foundations for finding out which occupations might fit and for the ability to shape one’s own future. Our one-of-a-kind offer therefore closes the gap between assisted education and vocational orientation. Both elements together provide youths with the support they need on their way towards a self-determined (working) life.
